Sheets are found in different metals like Stainless Steel, Brass, Aluminium, Copper, Nickel, Titanium, Carbon steel etc. A sheet is thinner item that is been cut from a continuous big rolled coil, and are less than 1mm or upto 25mm thick. Whereas a plate is a bit thicker item of a metal and is be produced or rolled as a single item. A plate is usually 150 mm or more thick and also can be low upto 2mm in certain. This is the main difference between sheets and plates. Sheets and Plates can be both Hot Rolled or Cold Rolled.
Types of Sheets and Plates
- Chequered Plate
- Perforated Sheet
- Diamond Plates
- Shim Sheet etc.
Uses and Applications of Sheets and Plates
- Stainless steel sheets & Plates is used in automotive as well as consumer applications. Because of its corrosion resistance, it is suitable for fasteners, machinery components, heat exchangers. And stainless steel plates are often used in commercial applications such as manufacturing or applications requiring hygienic properties such as food processing.
- Steel sheet is an outstanding material for railings, gates, and vehicle parts. Plate are also suitable for a variety of uses, including structural reinforcement and heavy equipment production.
- Aluminum sheet is used in industrial applications such as containers, home furniture, architecture and renovation, and vehicle body panels. Whereas, aluminum plates are used in aerospace and automobile production because of its mechanical properties that can tolerate a wide range of temperatures.
- Brass and copper sheets and Plates are used in decorative and mechanical applications.
What is a Bar?
Metal bar is defined as the metal that has been cast in the form of a block for ease of handling. It is a clear form of metal that is shaped by mining and smelting raw rock.
Different Forms of Bars and there Applications
Round Bars
Stainless steel Round Bar is a long, cylindrical metal bar used or applicable in a wide range of industrial and commercial applications. Shafts are the most general use. Round bars are in variety of such as Hot-Rolled Steel, Cold-Rolled Steel.
Square Bars
Square bars, also known as square steel, squares and square metal bars, are a form of multi – functional steel section that is mostly used in manufacturing and repairs.
Hex Bars
The hex bar, also known as the trap bars, is a weight lifting implement. It is an assemblage of bars bent at an angle and then welded into a shape that lies flat in a plane, consisting of: a barstock welded into a hexagonal or diamond shape, large enough to enable an individual to stand in the centre.
Flat Bars
Flat Bars are also recognized as Rectangular Bars as they are rectangular-shaped and long, metal bars that are used in a number of structural and construction uses.
Threaded Bars
Threaded rod also known as threaded bar is often used in plumbing, construction, and general repair applications to stabilise structures made of metal, wood or other materials.
